Matthew Rota, Ph.D.

Assistant Dean, Technology and Innovation
College of Nursing, University of Cincinnati

Dr. Matt Rota is the assistant dean for technology and innovation, and the director of the Center for Academic Technology, Educational Resources and Instructional Design, for the College of Nursing at the University of Cincinnati. In his role, he leads the College of Nursing’s instructional design department and college IT department, known as CATER. This office unifies instructional design and information technology. Rota also provides leadership oversight to ensure departments align with the college’s vision: “Through the creative leveraging of technology, we will transform health care.” His department also provides a community of practice, supported by ongoing professional development and faculty partnership, as well as innovative pedagogical approaches — online and face-to-face.

Rota’s Ph.D. is in education. He focused his studies and research on instructional design for online learning, specifically in virtual clinical experiences and augmented reality.
